Gravitter, Amelia (10 OCT 1859 - 29 JAN 1941)
Mrs. Amelia Gravitter, well known resident of our village, passed into the great beyond on Wednesday evening January 29th at 10:20 o’clock after two weeks of illness which was caused by a fall.
Amelia Roganskee was born in Poland, Germany Oct. 10, 1859. In 1882 she was married to John Gravitter also of Germany. A year later they came to the land of America. They established a home several miles west of Spencer where they lived until about 24 years ago at which time they moved to Loyal and resided here up to the time of Mr. Gravitter’s death eleven years ago. Since then Mrs. Gravitter had made her home with her son Paul in Greenwood on a farm. She was 82 years and 3 moths old.
Mrs. Gravitter is survived by six children, namely; Paul Gravitter, Greenwood; John of Muskegon, Michigan; Pauline Barney, Eau Claire; Gertrude Wendel, Loyal; Rudolph and Joe, Marshfield. Three children preceded her in death, Mary Herman and Amelia Gravitter of Marshfield, and Agnes Brandt of Oshkosh. Mrs. Gravitter also leaves 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday at nine o’clock at St. Anthony’s parish, conducted by Rev. Aloys Zinthefer. Burial was in St. John’s Cemetery, Marshfield.
Pall bearers were Joe Wedl, Joe Davel, Albert Davel, Wm. Theisen, Frank Bauer, John Elsinger.
Flower girls were Marie and Margaret Gravitter and Phyllis Bauer.
