Klessig, LaVonne Fern (Marriage - 7 Aug. 1954)

Miss LaVonne Fern Klessig of Waseca, Minn., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold C. Klessig of Colby, became the bride of John R. Matz, also of Waseca, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Matz of Waseca, Saturday afternoon at 3:00 o’clock in the First Ev. and Reformed church in Colby, Wis., Rev. V. O. Grosshuesch officiating at the service.

For her wedding the bride chose a floor-length gown of Chantilly lace and tulle over satin designed with a snugly fitted bodice, high jeweled neckline and long sleeves of lace. An over-skirt of lace topped the satin skirt edged with pleats of tulle at the hemline. A crown of seed pearls caught the finger-tip veil and her colonial bouquet was centered with a lavender orchid surrounded by stephanotis and feathered carnations.

Mrs. Raymond Hanenberger of Rochester, Minn., sister of the groom, was matron of honor and bridesmaids were Mrs. Paul Krause of Waseca and the bride’s sister, Miss Karen Klessig of Colby, Wis. Picture hats to match their gowns of lace and net styled with lace bodices, matching jackets and skirts of tiers of net over taffeta were worn by the attendants who carried colonial bouquets of Vanda orchids and white and green carnations. Mrs. Haeneberger wore orchid and the aides wore Nile green.

The bride’s brother, Gerald Klessig of Colby, was best man. Paul Krause and Raymond Hanenberger were groomsmen. Clifford Matz of Waseca and Jerome Kasper of Unity ushered.

White accessories were worn by the bride’s mother with her light ? Mrs. Matz, whose dress was navy blue. Their corsages were pink rosebuds and pink and white carnations.

Bouquets of cut flowers, wedding bells and streamers added to the festivities at the home of the bride’s parents, where the reception was held, and the parish hall, where the supper was served. An aunt of the bride, Mrs. Hugo Kobs, cut the wedding cake and the guest book was in charge of Mrs. Kenneth Schultz.

Out of town guests were present from Chippewa Falls, Milwaukee, Dorchester, Curtiss, Unity, Wausau, Rothschild, Owen and several cities in Minnesota including Rochester, Hibbing, Waseca and Otisco.

The groom, a graduate of the Waseca High School, is employed by the E. F. Johnson Company in Waseca and the bride, a graduate of the Colby High School and the College of Medical Technology, Minneapolis, is employed by Drs. Gallagher, Davis and Norman of Waseca.

After Aug. 16, the couple will reside at 909 Fifth St. S.E., in Waseca.
