Soderberg, Marjorie A. (9 JUN 1941)

Rev. A.M. Muckerheide officiated at the nuptial high mass at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church at 8:30 o’clock Monday morning, June 9th, 1941, which joined in holy matrimony Mr. Gordon Joseph Hastreiter, son of Mrs. Barbara Hastreiter of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and Miss Marjorie Alice Soderberg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Soderberg.

Bernard Hastreiter, brother of the groom and Mrs. Arthur Soderberg Jr., sister-in-law of the bride, acted as best man and bridesmaid.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was attired in a white chiffon gown, the bodice of which was shirred to a tightly fitted girdle of lace and which was fashioned with full sleeves caught to deep lace bands at the wrist. The full skirt and long train of the town was shirred onto the girdle of lace and her fingertip veil fell from a headdress of ruffled tulle. She carried a colonial bouquet of Kilarney roses, gardenias and swansonia.

Blue chiffon was the choice of gown of the maid of honor, Miss Doris Soderberg, the bride’s sister, and the bridesmaid wore white chiffon, both of which were similar to the bride’s but with short puffed sleeves. They carried bouquets of Briarcliff roses and delphinium and wore headdresses of swansonia and delphinium.

The groom and his attendants wore the conventional blue.

A reception to the couple was held after the ceremony at the home of the bride’s parents, attended by relatives and friends and dinner was served to all at the Soo Hotel.

After a wedding trip to Minnesota, Michigan and northern Wisconsin the happy couple will be at home to their friends at Loyal, Wis., where the groom is in the lumber business.

The bride is a graduate of Thorp High School and a business college, and has been employed with main office of the Thorp Finance Corp. here. The groom has been engaged in the lumbering industry at Thorp up to a year ago. Both of these young people enjoy a large circle of friends who join the "Courier" in extending best wishes for a long and prosperous wedded life.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hastreiter and family of Rib Falls and Mrs. Theresa Hastreiter of Marshfield were here for the wedding.
