Theilig, Herman (24 May 1868 - 11 Apr. 1954)

Herman Theilig of Colby, Route 2, died of heart trouble Sunday at the age of 85 years. Funeral services were held at the Zink Funeral Home in Abbotsford Wednesday afternoon, Rev. William C. Grafe of Green Grove officiating, and internment was made in the Green Grove cemetery.

Mr. Theilig was born in Milwaukee on May 24, 1868, and came to Colby with his parents when seven years of age. He received his education in the Colby public schools and served as school treasurer for several years. On August 29, 1910, he married Helena Stockmeyer at Newton.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. William (Erna) Uhlig; a brother, George Thielig; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Erdman and Miss Emilie Theilig, all of Colby; and nine grand children.

His wife, who died in November, 1951, and several brothers and sisters preceded him in death.

Like all our early settlers, Mr. Thielig was a good Christian of industrial and congenial disposition so he had many friends, many of whom had already passed away.
