Zettler, Wilfred (9 Mar. 1945 - 6 June 1954)

Wilfred Zettler, age nine, was fatally injured on the farm of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Zettler of the town of Johnson, Marathon county, Wisconsin Sunday morning. Funeral services are being held this Thursday morning at St. John the Baptist church in Wuerzburg.

Wilfred was killed as he and a brother, Anthony, 12, were taking a storage battery to a pasture to provide power for an electric fence. Wilfred sat in a front-end manure loader of a tractor which Anthony drove.

The bottom of the loader accidentally tipped, according to Coroner John W. Hildensperger, spilling the boy to the ground. Anthony stopped the tractor almost immediately, but not before the bottom of the loader struck Wilfred. He died almost instantly.

Wilfred was born in the town of Johnson March 9, 1945, and was a fourth-grade pupil at the Ladd School.

Surviving are his parents; two brothers, four sisters; his paternal grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Zettler of Athens, and his maternal grand father, Frank Wozniak of the town of Halsey.
