Passehl, Shelbydean (Marriage - 24 Sept. 1955)

Miss Shelbydean Passehl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Passehl of Whittier, Calif., formerly of Colby, and Ernest Louis Roemhild, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Roemhild, Sr., of Whittier, Calif., exchanged marriage vows in the presence of 50 friends and relatives in Faith Lutheran church at Whittier Saturday afternoon, Sept. 24, at 2:00 P.M. The double ring service was read by the church pastor.

For her wedding gown, the bride selected lace-patterned nylon tulle over white satin. The strapless bodice was covered by a tiny white lace bolero, and the bouffant skirt was accented by a cascade of tulle ruffles. She kept the wedding custom of "something old" with antique golden earrings; "something new," a tiny cross which was the gift of her grandmother, Mrs. Pauline Tessmer of Colby, Wis.; and "something borrowed," a diamond-set bracelet.

Her veil was caught to a princess crown of pearls and rhinestones, and she carried white roses and carnations with a white orchid center.

Miss Judith Passehl was her sister’s maid of honor in pale pink tulle with a corsage of pink and green carnations. The bridesmaid, Miss Joyce Bell, wore white tulle with pink and green blossoms.

Two flower girls, Gloria Passehl and Shirley Roemhild, scattered vari-colored rose petals in the bride’s path as she joined the bridegroom and his best man, Lamar Roemhild, at the altar.

Ushers were Gene Wyneth, Jay Jordan and Jack Smith. Wedding music was provided by the church organist.

The bride’s parents invited 90 guests to their home for the reception where Mrs. Passehl received in a brown frock with green accessories. Mrs. Roemhild wore pearl gray accented with scarlet, and both of the mothers had gardenia corsages. Assisting at the reception were Mrs. Axel Anderson and Mrs. John Pitman.

After a honeymoon at Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear, the newly-married couple live at 128 ½ N. Friends Ave., Whittier, Calif.

Both Shelbydean and her husband are graduates of Whittier High School. She is now employed by Brown Bevins Co. while he is associated with the Cummings Construction Co.
