Holzhausen, Shirley V. (Marriage - 16 NOV 1941)
A wedding of interest to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) residents was performed in the First Presbyterian Church at Pasadena, Calif., Sunday, Nov. 16th at 4 p.m., when Miss Shirley Virginia Holzhausen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Holzhausen, Van Nuys, Calif., former Thorp residents, exchanged marriage vows with Herbert Emile Fliniau, of Van Nuys, Calif.
The bride was becomingly dressed in a light blue wool suit with navy accessories and white orchids. Her attendant was Mrs. Harold Yingling (Betty Fliniau) and the groom’s best man was Harold Yingling.
Mrs. Fliniau spent several years of her girlhood in Thorp and has many friends here. She graduated from the Marshfield High School in 1938 and also attended the Junior College at Modesto, Calif., and Los Angeles City College.
Her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. M.E. Fliniau, long residents of Van Nuys, He was lieutenant in the R.O.T.C. at the Van Nuys High School, from which he was graduated, and he also attended Woodbury College. Mr. Fliniau is in the loan department of the Bank of America. The couple will live in Van Nuys.
