Brunett, Romain (19 SEP 1895 - 13 DEC 1941)
Romain Brunett, son of Ambrose Brunett of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), passed away at the Veterans Hospital at Ft. Snelling, Minn., on Saturday, Dec. 13, 1941, having reached the age of 46 years.
The deceased was born in Arkansaw, Wis., on Sept. 19, 1895. He came to Thorp with his parents while still a small boy and was brought up on their farm in the town of Worden, attending local schools. On Aug. 20, 1920, he was united in marriage to Miss Nina Steele. Fourteen years ago they moved with their family to Chetek, and for several years past, Mr. Brunett has been employed as janitor of the Chetek School.
Immediate relatives left to mourn his untimely demise are his wife and three children; two sons, Romain Jr. and Robert of Beloit, and one daughter, Beverly Jane at home; his father, Ambrose Brunett and one brother, Paul, of Thorp; two sisters, Mrs. Leo Fischer of Thorp and Marian Brunett of Minneapolis.
Funeral services were conducted at the Lutheran Church at Chetek on Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock and at the Bogumill Funeral Home at Thorp Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock. Rev. Swensen of Chetek officiated at both services. World War veterans of Chetek and Thorp American Legion Posts attended the funeral rites in a body and laid their comrade to rest with military honors in the East Thorp Cemetery.
