Karl W. Paape, now practicing law in Colby, was born and raised in Marshfield, Wis. His father, William Paape, was chief of police there for more than 20 years. He graduated from the Marshfield Senior High School in 1942.

After leaving high school, he attended Central State Teachers College in Stevens Point, Wis., from which he graduated with a B.S. degree in 1946. He then taught school for one year at Hogeland, Mont., and for two years at El Paso, Texas. He then attended law school at the University of Wisconsin and graduated with an L.L.B. degree and was admitted to the bar in August, 1951.

Following graduation from the University, he was employed by the Local Loan Co., for approximately three months as a managerial trainee. He left to obtain a better position as a multiple casualty adjuster for the Aetna Casualty & Security Co. where he worked for more than a year on fire insurance problems and in connection with the perpetuation of capital asset accounts. All of this work was done in the Milwaukee area which he left in December 1954, when he moved to Greenwood.

In May 1954, he was married to Nancy Wright of West Allis, Wis. She is a graduate of the Milwaukee Hospital School of Nursing, and prior to her marriage, was employed as a registered nurse in Beloit and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

On December 5, 1954, the couple moved to Greenwood, Wis., where Attorney Paape opened an office above the Farmers and Merchants Bank for the practice of law.

Near the end of December, 1954, Clarence E. Gorsegner, attorney at Loyal, Wis., and former district attorney of Clark county, and Mr. Paape became associated for the practice of law at Colby, Wis. Their Colby office is now open and office hours will be observed Mondays through Fridays.
