Casper, Nina A. (3 February 1913 - 9 February 2008)
Nina Casper, 95 of Neillsville, died Saturday, February 9, 2008, at the Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville.
Nina A. Casper was born February 3, 1913, in Black River Falls, the daughter of Ernest G. and Minnie A. (Onstad) Gates. She was united in marriage to Herman Embke December 6, 1933. He died in 1966. Nina later married Lawrence Casper. He died in 1985. After raising her family, Nina went to work for the Nelson Filter Company for a short time. Later, she worked as a clerk at Schultz Bros. Dime Store for many years before it closed, and she retired.
Nina was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Neillsville. She enjoyed doing puzzles, gardening, fishing and dancing when she was younger.
She is survived by four sons, Ronald (Nancy) Embke of Neillsville, Darrell (Sherry Greene) Embke of La Crosse, Eugene (Anita) Embke of Humbird, Delbert (Judy) Embke of Hatfield and a stepson, Ernest (Hilda) Embke of Houston, TX; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother Leo Gates of Janesville; and a sister-in-law Fifi Gates of Black River Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Herman Embke and Lawrence Casper; two grandsons, Alan Ronald Embke and Donald Embke; her parents; sisters, Esther Hullet and Vera Hullet; and two brothers, Lloyd Gates and Floyd Gates.
Funeral services for Nina will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor mark Fugate will officiate. Music will be provided by Sarah Fugate, organist. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 12 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the Gesche Funeral Home.
Casket bearers were her grandsons, Dale Embke, Darwin Embke, Dennis Embke, Roger Embke and Terry Embke.
The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Nina’s family with funeral arrangements.
