Sylvan F. Spiegelberg
Sylvan F. Spiegelberg, 81, of Marshfield, went home to be with the two loves of his life Feb. 10, 2008.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hansen Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Stoetzel will officiate. Burial of ashes will be in West Spencer Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday.
Sylvan Fred Spiegelberg was born Oct. 23, 1926, in Debuque, Iowa, the only child of Herbert H. and Rose (Schoolman) Spiegelberg. He attended and graduated from the Debuque school system. On May 11, 1947, Sylvan was united in marriage to the former Joan Becher. Joan died after a valiant battle with leukemia in October 1981. On Jan. 2, 1993, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Granton, Sylvan was united in marriage to Helen M. Lucas. Helen died earlier this week.
Sylvan was a farmer in the Spencer area for many years and was also employed as a mechanic for the City of Marshfield.
Sylvan was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield.
Mr. Spiegelberg is lovingly survived by his five children: Kathern (Don) Axelsen of Eau Claire, Linda (David) Shaw of Mukwonago, Mary (Dick) Sigl of Wisconsin Rapids, Rosie Spiegelberg of Waukesha and Shari (Chuck) Hawkins of New Berlin. He is further survived by three grandchildren: Tamara (Nicholas) Kramer of Milton, Abigail Shaw of Mukwonago and Ann (Mark) Bunnell of South Beloit, Ill. and two great-grandchildren: Elizabeth and Brett Bunnell.
His parents, a son, David in 1970 and grandson, Matthew Axelsen in infancy precede Sylvan in death.
