Godden, John F. (29 AUG 1865 - 6 JAN 1942)
John F. Godden, aged 76, passed away at the Franklin Hospital, Minneapolis, Minn., on Tuesday morning, Jan. 6, 1942, of infirmities of old age.
Mr. Godden was born in Tipton, Iowa on Aug. 29, 1865. He was engaged in railroading for 43 years, spending his vacations on the land he owned in the town of Mead (Clark Co., Wis.). After retiring in 1934 he spent most of his time at the farm.
He is survived by his widow of Minneapolis, one brother, Walter Godden of Portland, Oregon, one daughter, Mrs. C.T. Jennings of Sweet Home, Oregon, three sons, Forrest of Manly, Iowa, Robert M. of Minneapolis, John E. of Greenwood, Wis.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Homer Armstrong at the Wernes Brothers Mortuary of Minneapolis on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 6 at 3:30 o’clock. Burial will take place at Mechanicsville, Iowa in the spring.
