Smith, Angeline (19 Dec. 1903 - 13 Jan. 1955)

Mrs. Albert Smith of Curtiss passed away at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital Thursday morning, Jan. 13, at the age of 51 years, after a lingering illness. She had been admitted to the hospital the day before her death. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Ev. Lutheran church, Rev. M. S. Egge officiating, and burial was made at Pine Hill Cemetery. At the rites, Mrs. Alfred Thompson and Mrs. DuWayne Bulgrin, accompanied by Mrs. Clarence Nelson, sang, "Rock of Ages" and "The Lights of Home." Pall bearers were Franklin Kraut, Orville Laabs, Bernard Laabs, John Michlig, Milton Meske and John Lokken. Flowers were in charge of nieces and cousins of the deceased - Carol Burtard, Doris Ackerman, Mrs. Ambrose Schuh, Mrs. Joe Karaba, Mrs. Orlando Ackerman, Mrs. Barney Roytek, Mrs. Fritz Laabs and Mrs. Harold Laabs.

Mrs. Smith, the former Angeline Burtard, was born on December 19, 1903, and grew to womanhood in the town of Hoard, Clark county. She received her education at the Colby High School and Stevens Point Teachers College. She taught school in the town of Hoard until her marriage on June 30, 1926, to Albert Smith. They made their home in Curtiss ever since their marriage where she was a member of the Ev. Lutheran church and its Ladies’ Aid Society.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Arlyn (Loretta) Harris, Delores Smith of Milwaukee and Barbara at home; two sisters, Mrs. Joe (Lily) Ackerman of Curtiss, Mrs. Walter (Eleanore) Nicks of Dorchester; three brothers, John Burtard of Owen, Gilbert Burtard of Curtiss and Reuben Burtard of Gilman; and two grand children.

Among the out of town people here for the funeral were Ed Smith of Rosendale, Mrs. Ida Kohls of Ripon, Mrs. Ingman Gilbertson and Mrs. Albert Balthazer of Fond du Lac, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Kolbeck, Mrs. Dena ? and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Karaba of Milwaukee, Ed and Louis Stollfus of Eldorado, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gruenke, Mr. and Mrs. August Gruenke, Mr. and Mrs. August Gruenke and Dora Ackerman of Chicago, Ill.
