Wolk, Julia (4 Apr. 1872 - 4 Apr. 1955)

Mrs. Julia Wolk, a former resident of Colby, died at Wausau Monday at the age of 83 years, old age complications being the cause of her death. Funeral services will be held at the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby this Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock and internment will be made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers are Frank Marquardt, Jack Young, W. F. Schwantes, Emil Wolk, H. A. Senkbeil and Carl Sabler.

Mrs. Wolk was born in Germany on April 4, 1872, and came to the United States in 1889. She married Herman Wolk in McKeesport, Pa., in 1893. They came to Colby in 1897 and engaged in farming until 1917 when they moved to the city of Colby, Wis. Mr. Wolk passed away in October, 1934.

Surviving are four children, Walter Wolk of West Allis, Mrs. O. J. (Anna) Dix of Colby, Mrs. Walter (Emma) Larson of Wausau and Mrs. Frank (Bessie) Grunewald of Milwaukee; one sister in McKeesport, Pa.; five grand children and 10 great grand children.

Mrs. Wolk will be remembered here, especially by the older people of the community, as a good Christian of a kindly and congenial disposition, which made many friends for her.

Out of town relatives here for the funeral of Julia Wolk Thursday were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wolk of West Allis, Mrs. Frank Grunewald and Mr. and Mrs. Lester E. Wagner of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Larson, Mr. and Mrs. James Berger and Mr. and Mrs. John Fehl of Wausau and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Wolk of Oshkosh.
