Wohld, Mark G. (6 MAY 1872 - 23 APR 1942)
Mark Wohld, 69, passed away at his home in the village on Thursday evening, April 23, 1942, after a lingering illness. He recently sold the Sunshine Cheese Factory and store in the Town of Reseburg (Clark Co., Wis.) and moved to Thorp. Mr. Wohld has been a resident of this community for the past thirty-three years, and engaged in farming and cheese making.
Mark George Wohld was born in Denmark on May 6, 1872 and came to America at the age of one year with his parents, Daniel and Hannah Wohld, who located in the city of Neenah, Wis.
On Aug. 8, 1899 he was united in marriage to Lulu Furman at Allenville, Wis. They resided near Neenah until 1909 when they came to Thorp with their family and this has since been their residence.
He is survived by his widow and five children: two daughters, Mrs. Veronica Glasshof and Mrs. Eunice Johnson of Thorp; three sons, Vernon of Ladysmith, Wis., Raymond of Wausau, Wis., and Winston of Clintonville, Wis., two brothers, Daniel Wohld of Chicago, and Robert Wohld of Camden, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Patrina Larson of Camden, Wash., and Miss Christina Wohld of Spokane, Wash., and twelve grandchildren.
The funeral was held at the Methodist Church at 2:00 o’clock on Monday afternoon. Rev. James Irish conducted the services and June Wohleben and Colleen Biddle sang "Abide With Me" and "Nearer My God To Thee," accompanied by Mrs. Chester Johnson.
Interment was made in the East Thorp Cemetery. Pallbearers were Verona, Raymond and Winston Wohld, Russell Johnson, Wm. E. Glasshof and Millard Glasshof.
