Mrs. Elizabeth Powell, aged 70 years and 3 days, passed away after a brief illness at her home in Mobridge, S.D., Friday, June 26th, 1942..
Elizabeth Warner, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. S.S. Warner, was born in the Town of Lindina, Juneau Co., Wis., June 23rd, 1872. She came with her parents to the Town of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) in May 1874. Here she grew to womanhood and was married to Wm. E. Powell, June 12th, 1891. They resided at Eidsvold several years and then moved to Ingram, Wis. About thirty years ago they moved to Wakpala, S.D., and later to Mobridge..
Mr. Powell died about eight years ago. The deceased is survived by two sons, Chester of Mobridge and Cole of Vancouver, Wash.; three daughters, (Harriet) Mrs. Peter Newman of Klammath Falls, Oregon, (Lucille) Mrs. Nick Nicksic of McLaughlin, S.D., (Arbutus) Mrs. Howard Garette of Centerville, Iowa; one brother, Bill Warner of the Town of Thorp; three sisters (Abi) Mrs. W.C. Tunison of Jump River, (Lucinda) Mrs. Roy Brown of Harlinger, Texas, and Mrs. Susan Allen of Thorp; twenty-three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mrs. Powell was a member of the Woman’s Relief Corps and W.R.C. Social Club in Thorp and these organizations sent flowers.
