Pudlas, John F. (10 Mar. 1912 - 30 Jan. 1949)
John F. Pudlas, a former resident of Curtiss and for the past 15 years a resident of Freeport, Ill., died suddenly Saturday, Jan. 30, at a hospital in Freeport at the age of 36 years, a heart ailment being the cause of his death. The body arrived in Colby Wednesday morning and remained in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home until Thursday morning when funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby, Wis., Rev. N. B. Beschta officiating, and burial was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.
John F. Pudlas was born on March 10, 1912, in Curtiss, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pudlas. He attended Owen High School and was married to Gertrude Orth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Orth, at Colby on Nov. 11, 1931. He had been employed at a cheese plant in Freeport, Ill.
Surviving besides his wife and parents are five children - Donna Mae, Gerald, John, Jr., Paul and James, and three sisters - Mrs. Alfred (Esther) Thompson, Mrs. Wilfred (Dorothy) Marcott and Mrs. Tolvo (Grace) Keillo, all of Abbotsford, Wis.

Funeral services for John F. Pudlas, whose death was chronicled last week, were held at St. Mary’s Catholic church last Thursday, Rev. N. B. Beschta officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Clarence Geary, Wayne Olson, Neil Smiley, Art Laabs and Solomon Krause, all of Curtiss.
Out of town people here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Schroeder and Mr. and Mrs. E. Tellock of Appleton, Mrs. Wm. Fiddler and Lester Fiddler of Cleveland, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Patitz and Theo. Patitz of Glidden, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Martin of Edgar, Mrs. Rueben Haas of Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Laack, Mrs. Ida Patitz and Elroy, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Orth, Mr. and Mrs. George Orth of Abbotsford and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Kollio of Owen, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Luepke and son, Bobbie and Emory Orth of Toluga, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Orth, Jr., of Forreston, Ill., Mrs. Walter Frook of Fond du Lac, Norman Orth of Racine, Roger Orth of Mondovi, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Chamberland of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Feit of Unity, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fricke of Curtiss, Mrs. Chas. Emling of Loyal, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Horn of Greenwood and Eldon Hundertneck of German Valley, Ill.
