Vander Wegen, Frank (1885 - 6 SEP 1942)

Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), Rev. Father Lang officiating, for Frank Vander Wegen, 57, whose death occurred Wednesday, Sept. 6, 1942, at a hospital in Minneapolis. He had been in failing health for the past five years.

Mr. Vander Wegen in recent years had been employed at Aitkin, Minn., and previous to that had been engaged in the general merchandise and hardware business at Clark and Withee. For 23 years he owned and operated the Withee Hardware & Implement Co. with his partner, Theo. Albert.

While a resident of Withee he served on the village council, was village treasurer, and held other offices of trust, and was always one of the business leaders of the community.

Besides his wife and daughter, Betty Jane, he leaves to mourn four sisters, Mrs. James Devine, Withee; Mrs. Nell Sprenger, Beloit; Mrs. Chester Johnson and Mrs. Adolph Deny, Beloit; and three brothers, Gus and Clarence of Eau Claire and Thomas of Thorp. His parents preceded him in death.

Burial took place in Riverside Cemetery and pallbearers for the funeral were Messrs. Allen Billington, John Blunk, Charles Larson, Harry Thorson, Allan Altenburg and Herman Bartholomay, all businessmen of the village.
