Konik, Julia (2 FEB 1861 - 1 OCT 1942)

Funeral services were conducted Monday from Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Rev. Father Novak officiating, for Mrs. Julia Konik, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Juntunen, Thursday of last week.

Julia Konik was born Feb. 2, 1861, in Austria, Hungary, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Milyko. She was married Nov. 17, 1880 to John Konik, and to this union were born ten children, five sons and five daughters. Three children died in infancy, and her husband passed away May 18, 1908, at Charleroi, Pa. One daughter, Barbara, died Dec. 8, 1916, and a son, John, died Feb. 22, 1936 at their home in Owen (Clark Co., Wis.).

Mrs. Konik was one of the pioneer women of this vicinity. Her husband came here and purchased the farm on which they lived in May 1908, and before her could move here he passed away. She then brought her family here in Oct. 1908, and since that time has resided on the old homestead.

She was a woman of sterling character, and in her long residence made many friends, all of whom regret of her passing. At the time of her death all of her children were at her bedside.

Those left to mourn her passing are Mrs. Anna Wachsmuth and family of San Benito, Texas; Steve Konik and family of Phillips; the Andrew and Paul Konik families, and Mr. and Mrs. Juntunen. There are also sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
