Katyla, John #2 (25 FEB 1882 - 9 JAN 1943)
John Katyla, 60, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1943, at his farm home, 3 ½ miles north of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), following a short illness caused by a heart ailment.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at one o’clock from the Finnish Lutheran Church, Owen. The Rev. George Autio officiating, and burial was made in Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Katyla was born in Finland, Feb. 25, 1882, and when he was 20 years old he came to America, working in mines in Ishpeming, Mich., until 1913, when he came to Clark County to buy a farm. Since that time he had lived here.
His marriage to Mary Luhtala of Owen took place Sept. 3, 1916.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Elsie Zielonis at home, and Miss Ellen Katyla, Chicago; a sister, Mrs. Hilma Saaremoa, Finland, and a grandson.
