Boehnen, Ruby L. #2 (5 DEC 1911 - 16 FEB 2008)

Ruby L Boehnen, 96, Loyal, and formerly of Merrillan, died on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at the Colonial Center, Colby, Wis. Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Alma Center. The Rev. Jude Dioka officiated. Burial was in Saint Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Alma Center.

Ruby L. Hoffmann was born on Dec. 5, 1911, in rural Neillsville, to Albert and Minnie (nee Scholl) Hoffmann. She was raised in Merrillan and graduated from high school in 1929. She married Gabriel Boehnen in Bloomer, on Jan. 20, 1933. After farming in the Alma Center area for several years, they moved to Milwaukee and lived there for many years. After her husband’s retirement, they moved to Fremont, and wintered in Lakeland, Fla. Her husband died on Feb 17, 1985. In 1985, she moved back to Milwaukee and in 1990, she moved to Loyal. She resided at the Colonial Center in Colby since 1996. In addition to being a homemaker, at various times during her life she ran a flower shop, a grocery store and a root beer stand.

Survivors include her niece, Marlene Nagel, Jackson, and her nephews, Kenneth Boehnen, Spencer, and Larry Boehnen, Alma Center.

Preceding her in death were her husband; her brother, George; and her sister, Florence.
