Stapel, Howard A. (11 JUN 1915 - 24 FEB 1943)
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Feb. 28, at Elmhurst, Ill., for Howard Allen Stapel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stapel, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), Route 1, whose death occurred Wednesday, Feb. 24th, 1943, at Council Bluffs, Iowa.
He was born at Fremont, Wis., June 11, 1915, and came to Owen with his parents when a boy, and graduated from the Owen High School with the class of 1934. Later he attended the Art Institute of Chicago, and was later employed in the CCC Headquarters, U.S. Army, Chicago, until November 1942, when he was transferred to Omaha, neb., to open a branch office. He died suddenly at the Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs.
He leaves to mourn, his wife, Margaret, and one child, Susan, age two years, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stapel of Owen, three sisters, Mrs. (Mildred) McCalbum, Elmhurst, Ill.; Mrs. (Florence) Frickenstein, Stratford, Wis.; Mrs. Ralph (Charlotte) Miller, Greenwood; and three brothers, Justin of Oakdale, Calif.; Theodore at home and Robert, somewhere in the Far East with the U.S. Army.
Mr. and Mrs. Stapel, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Miller, Greenwood, and Mrs. E. Frickenstein, Stratford, all attended the funeral services at Elmhurst.
