Mathi Kujala, 67 years and 23 days of age, passed away at his farm home near Withee, on Saturday, Oct. 4, after a long illness.

Final rites were read for him on Tuesday, Oct. 7, from the Finnish Lutheran church, Owen, with the Rev. George Autio officiating and burial was made in the Riverside cemetery.

He was born on September 11, 1874, at Jalasjaivi, Finland. He and his wife came to this country from Finland on May 5, 1907, and settled on a homestead in Michigan. However in 1914 he and his family moved to Withee where he has spent the remainder of his life residing in this community for the past 28 years. During this time he had been a fine father, a good worker and a faithful member of the Finnish Lutheran church here.

He is survived by a sister living at Republic, Mich., a son, John Richard, living at home and three daughters, Mrs. Mary Smith, Mrs. Martha E. Cieslek, Mrs. Irene M. Rodda and 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

His wife preceded him in death, passing away in 1934.
