Scott, Thomas B. (8 Feb. 1828 - 7 Oct. 1886)
T. B. Scott, of Merrill, died at his home, last Thursday evening, in the 59th year of his age. Mr. Scott has been in failing health for several years, hence his demise was not entirely unlooked for. He was born at Roxburyshire, Scotland. At the age of nineteen came to Wisconsin and settled in Columbia county but removed to Grand Rapids two years later, and there made his home from 1851 to 1882, when he removed to Merrill. He made a fortune in the lumbering business, was a friend of the laboring men and was highly respected by everybody who knew him. He represented this senatorial district in the state senate ten successive years and would have been reelected then, if he would have accepted. He will be mourned by a host of sincere friends.
