Rhyak, Helen (Marriage - 24 June 1950)
On Saturday morning, June 24th, the marriages of Miss Helen Ryhak to Mr. Wilbert Smudde and Miss Francis Ryhak to Mr. Joseph Metzinger took place at the Immaculate Conception church at Butternut during the ten o’clock high mass with Rev. Nickamp officiating at the ceremony.
The brides were attired in colonial style gowns of white slipper satin and finger-tip veils and carried cascade bouquets of white gladiola and lily of the valley. Mrs. Elbea Ryhak attended as matron of honor and wore a pastel blue dotted Swiss gown of colonial style. The bridesmaids, Miss Dorothy Ryhak, Miss Mary Ryhak and Miss Vivian Stepsal, wore similar gowns in pastel yellow, green and pink. All four carried cascade bouquets of carnations and stephanates. The grooms were attended by Stanley Ryhak, Ervin Metzinger and George Smudde who wore tuxedos with white jackets.
After the ceremony, a dinner and reception were held at the home of the brides’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ryhak, Sr., of Butternut. Guests were present from Colby, Chicago, Marshfield, Unity, Merrill and Park Falls.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Smudde will make their home in Chicago.
