Schumacher, William (5 Apr. 1865 - 6 Nov. 1950)

William Schumacher passed away Monday night at 11:30 P.M. at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Becker of Colby, route 2, at the age of 85 years, old age complications being the cause of his departure. Funeral services will be held at St. Louis’ Catholic church at Dorchester Friday morning at 9:30, Rev. Michael J. Kelnhofer officiating, and burial will be made in the Dorchester cemetery.

Mr. Schumacher was born April 5, 1865, in Belgium. He came to the United States at the age of 12 and lived for a time at Appleton and Marshfield. After his marriage, Nov. 22, 1893, to Elizabeth Decker at Mackville, they moved to Kimberly where they lived for seven years. They then moved to a farm near Dorchester where they farmed until 1925, when they moved to the village of Dorchester, Wis.

Mrs. Schumacher preceded her husband in death in January, 1946. Mr. Schumacher had been living with his daughter for the past three years.

Surviving are the following children - Peter and Nick of Dorchester, George of Sheboygan, Mrs. Jake (Elizabeth) Boxrucker of Stetsonville, Mrs. Stephen (Anna) Krupka of Milladore, Sister M. Celine of Viterbo College at LaCrosse, Mrs. Aaron (Josephine) Gelhaus of Medford, Mrs. Archie (Genevieve) Leichtnam of Plymouth and Mrs. Wilbur (Margaret) Becker of Colby, Wis. There are 31 grand children, 19 great grand children. Also surviving are a sister, Anna, and a brother, Hubert, in Belgium. Three sons, Frank, William and John, preceded him in death.
