Purkis, Laura (23 Dec. 1870 - 21 Nov. 1950)

Mrs. Ed Purkis, Sr., of Unity, Wisconsin, died at the age of 79 years last week Tuesday morning, old age complications being the cause of her death. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Trinity Lutheran church in Unity, Rev. Charles Witte of Marshfield officiating, and burial was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Henry Binning, Earl Salter, Anton Korntved, Tom Loughead, Frank Pfeffer and Martin Evenson. Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Frank Pfeffer, Mrs. Clarence Edblom, Mrs. Sam Stark and Mrs. John Johnson.

Mrs. Purkis, nee Laura Gregerson, was born Dec. 23, 1870, in Denmark. She was married to Ed Purkis July 3, 1886, at Spencer. They lived on a farm for many years before moving to the village of Unity about 20 years ago.

Mr. Purkis died Feb. 19, 1947. Three children also preceded her in death. Surviving are two sons, Clyde of Unity and Frank of Oak Park, Ill.
