Zukowski, Josephine V (20 November 1920 - 27 February 2008)

Josephine V. Zukowski, age 87, of Thorp, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2008 at our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Fr. Keith Apfelbeck will officiate and burial will follow in New St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Zukowski, Josephine Victoria (20 November 1920 - 25 February 2008)

Josephine V. Zukowski, age 87, of Thorp, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2008 at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley.

Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2008, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Fr. Keith Apfelbeck officiated and burial followed in New St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was held at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Josephine Victoria Koczarski was born on November 20, 1920 in Chicago, IL to John and Lottie (Trembinski) Koczarski. She was raised in Chicago and received her education at Orr School. As a young woman, Josephine worked at Bisquits cookie factory in Chicago for several years. She was united in marriage to Julius Zukowski on June 10, 1950 in Chicago. After their marriage, they moved to Thorp, where Josephine took care of her mother. She entered Oakbrook Health & Rehab on March 15, 2005.

She was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church and its Parish Council of Catholic Women. Josephine had many interests, but especially enjoyed collecting ceramic dogs, playing cards, knitting and crocheting.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Josephine Koczarski, of Chicago; her special friends, Dave and Vicki Shilts and their family, of Boyd; and her extended family at Oakbrook Health & Rehab.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Julius, on December 14, 1982; one son in infancy; and one brother, Anthony Koczarski.

Thorp Funeral Home assisted the family withy arrangements.
