Olson, Gloriette Ann (Marriage - 16 June 1951)
Gloriette Ann Olson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Olson of Colby, and Jr. Robert Ganz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max W. Ganz of Little Falls, Minn., were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby, Saturday morning, June 16th, Rev. N. B. Beschta officiating. Miss Phyllis Olson, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and Ellen Ganz and Betty Ganz, sisters of the groom, of Little Falls, Minn., and Kathleen Gehan, friend of the bride of Sioux Falls, S.D., acted as bridesmaids. The groom was attended by Roger Olson, brother of the bride, Edward Ganz of Excelsior, Minn., Max Ganz, Jr., of Mankato, Minn., brothers of the groom, and James Ven Rooy of Dower, Minn., cousin of the bride.
The bride was attired in a gown of white nylon marquisette trimmed with bands of venise lace inset with rhinestones. The gown had a fitted bodice and short puffed sleeves with long gloves of the same material ending in a ruffle over the wrist. The train of the dress was encircled with a ruffle at the top of which was a band of venise lace inset with rhinestones. The veil was of imported illusion attached to a tiara of seed pearls and rhinestones. The bride also wore a necklace and earrings of Czechoslovakian rhinestones, a gift of the groom.
The bride’s attendants all wore identical dresses of pink and white frosted organdy, identical white gloves, carried identical nosegay bouquets of pink and white flowers and wore tiaras of pink and white flowers in their hair.
The bride’s mother was attired in a navy blue dress of sheer rayon crepe with matching accessories and a corsage of pink and white carnations. The groom’s mother was attired in a navy blue and pink figured dress of silk bemberg with matching accessories and a corsage of pink and white carnations.
A reception was held at St. Mary’s hall at 5:00 P.M. Out of town guests were from Sioux Falls and Pierre, S.D., Ceylon, Little Falls, Swanville, Excelsior, Mankato, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Downer and Aitkin, Minn., Grand Rapids, Mich., Chicago, Ill., Arlington, Va., Tomahawk, West De Pere, Oshkosh, Waunakee, Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, Stratford, Unity, Arpin and Owen.
The bride is employed by the law firm of Bielski, Elliot & Lewis of Sioux Falls, S.D. The groom had been employed by Donavan Construction Co. of St. Paul but left for the army on June 19th. The bride will return to Sioux Falls.
