Reeves, Patricia Jo Anne (Marriage - 11 Aug. 1951)

Miss Patricia Jo Anne Reeves, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Reeves of Colby, and Elmer Lloyd Miessner, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Miessner of Unity, were united in marriage at the Zion Lutheran church in Colby, Wisconsin Saturday afternoon, August 11th, Rev. O. Hoffmann reading the marriage ceremony. Mrs. George Haas of Unity was matron of honor and Miss Lois Rahl of Augusta, Miss Phyllis Miller of Ridgeland and Miss Marjorie Murray of Eau Claire were bridesmaids. The groom was attended by Edward Miessner of Milwaukee, his brother, as best man, Clarence Miessner of Edgar, another brother, Milford Frome of Colby, a cousin, and Charles Riese of Unity, a friend. Miss Carole Meissner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Miessner, acted as flower girl and Richard Berens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Berens of Marathon, was ring bearer. The church was decorated with pink and white flowers and candles.

Miss Rena Bauer served as organist and played several selections, Loeghren’s wedding march before the ceremony and Mendelsohn’s wedding march for the recessional. Donald Schulz sang "Because," "God Gave Me You" and "The Lord’s Prayer."

The bride was attired in a gown of white marquisette over satin, lace bodice, long sleeves, lace insets coming to a peak at the hem of the skirt, buttoned down the back, and a long flowing train. Her veil of imported French illusion was held in place by a seed pearl crown. Her crescent-shaped bouquet consisted of pink gardenias and white stephanotis. The matron of honor wore a gown of white flocked ninon over pink taffeta styled with a Peter Pan collar, buttoned down the front with a full gathered skirt. Her bouquet consisted of mixed pink and white garden flowers tied to tiny bells with streamers. The bridesmaids wore dresses of pink flocked ninon over pink taffeta, styled like that of the matron of honor’s. The bride’s mother wore a gown of dusty rose with white accessories with a corsage of white roses. The groom’s mother wore a gown of powder blue with white accessories with a corsage of white roses.

A 5:00 o’clock dinner was served in the church parlors and a reception was held at the bride’s home. Both the church parlors and the home were decorated with large white bells and pink and white crepe paper. A wedding dance was held at Riverview ballroom.

After a wedding trip to Northern Wisconsin and Minnesota, the couple will be at home in Colby after August 20th. The groom is employed at the Mandel cheese factory in Unity and the bride is employed as bookkeeper by the Harmony Cooperative Produce Co. of Colby, Wis.

Guests were from Colby, Abbotsford, Milwaukee, Loyal, Eau Claire, Sheboygan, Wauwatosa, Baraboo, Mindoro, Wausau, Unity, Ridgeland, Augusta, Dorchester, Lannon, Waukesha, Marathon, Blaire and Golden City, Missouri.
