Jacobsen, Jacob (19 SEP 1863 - 5 DEC 1943)
Jacob Haderslen Jacobsen, 80, of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), died at his home, Sunday, Dec. 5, 1943, the cause of death being asthma and heart ailments. He is one of the pioneer residents of that community, coming there more than 43 years ago.
Mr. Jacobsen was born Sept. 19, 1863 in Jylland, Denmark, and was united in marriage to Miss Florentine Nielsen, may 25, 1890, in Chicago. To this union were born three children, Andreas, Dexter, Minn.; George, Walters, Minn., and Karen, Elkhorn, Wis. His wife preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 1935.
When first coming to Withee he was engaged in farming, and in later years conducted a small grocery store. While residing in the town of Longwood he served as town treasurer. He was a man well liked by those who knew him and in his residence there made a large acquaintance of friends. He was a member of the Trinitatis Lutheran Church in Chicago, and the Danish Lutheran Church of Withee.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon from the Danish Lutheran Church, with the Rev. J.L.J. Dixen and the Rev. L.C. Bundgaard officiating, with burial taking place in the Danish church cemetery. Pallbearers were Benj. Petersen, Andrew Smith, Chris Jensen, Henry Klauck, William Brandt, and George Stark.
