Unity, Wis. - May, 24, 1951
Nickolas Tressens, age 28, of Unity literally ran into the police station at Marshfield Friday morning and it cost him a fine in court for driving while under the influence of intoxicants. Tressens pleaded guilty to the charge in municipal court and paid after his car ran over the sidewalk and into the front of the police station. Neither the building nor the car were damaged.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Weller and daughter of Wauwatosa, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kanter and family of Milwaukee and Mrs. Martha Weller of Colby and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Weller and family of Abbotsford were recent guests at the Herbert Kanter home.
Kathy Justman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Justman, town of Unity, had her tonsils removed at the Colby clinic.
Pvt. Orville Rex, in training at Camp Polk, La., is spending a two-week’s furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Rex.
The high school students and teachers, L. M. Millard, Mrs. Glenn Frome, Roy Richinger and Edward Klinger went to Lake Isadore, near Medford, Thursday, for their school picnic. The grade pupils, some mothers and the teachers, Mrs. Morris Anderson, Mrs. Arthur Wiedenhoeft and James Whalehan, held their picnic at Wildwood Park at Marshfield Thursday.
Robert Cook, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Cook of Unity, was one of six students honored as four-year members of the Men’s Glee Club at Central State College, Stevens Point. The men received gold key awards at the club’s annual banquet held Thursday.
