Schuman, Bertha (90th Birthday - 15 Oct. 1951)

Members of the family of Mrs. Bertha Schuman gathered at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schuman, with whom she lives, Monday evening, Oct. 15. and helped her celebrate her 90th birthday anniversary. The evening was spent socially after which lunch was served from a buffet table centered with a gaily decorated birthday cake. Mrs. Schuman received many gifts.

Mrs. Schuman was born on October 15, 1861, near Manitowoc and married August Schuman on May 6, 1884, in Swartzwell church at Kiel. Her husband died about 24 years ago.

Six children were born to the couple, three of whom died in infancy. The three children, Mrs. Otto (Louise) Dins, Fred Schuman and Mrs. Edwin (Lydia) Frome, all of Colby, together with their families, were present at the celebration.
