Schmitt, Alphonse Roman (12 Feb. 1927 - 4 Oct. 1951)
Pfc. Alphonse Roman Schmitt of the town of Hull, Wisconsin, age 24, recently reported missing in Korea, was killed in action on October 4, according to a later report received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Schmitt of the town of Hull.
Pfc. Schmitt was born on February 12, 1927, in the town of Hull and made his home here until he left for service on October 24, 1950. He had been in Korea since April, 1951, and served there in the infantry. He was a young man of good habits, and, being of a congenial disposition, had many friends who are sorry to hear of his untimely death.
Surviving are his parents; four brothers, Emery of Abbotsford and Mark, Linus and Timothy, at home; nine sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Rita) Peterson of Abbotsford, Mrs. Elmer (Maude) Kocian of Colby, Mrs. Harry (Naomi) Kruse of Des Plaines, Ill., Mrs. LeRoy (Carmen) Fosbick of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Leo (Marcedes) Lang of Wauzeka, Mrs. Angelo (Blanche) Zera of Evanston, Ill., Mrs. Fred (Germaine) Redman of Edgar and Maryann and Virgene, at home.
