The Phonograph deeply regrets to announce that Rev. Wm. Reding, who has been pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic church during the past four years, has been taken from us and assigned to Grand Rapids, for which place he departs today. Father Reding has not only endeared himself to his parishioners but the entire community as well. He took a deep interest in city affairs and was always on the right side and will be sadly missed. He preached his farewell sermon last Sunday - and the church was well filled. Immediately after high mass his congregation gave him a farewell reception on the lawn, at which there were speaking in German and English and songs by the Colby Liderkranz.
On Wednesday night the Catholic Order of Foresters gave a banquet in Colby opera hall, in his honor, which was enjoyed by all present.
Rev. Reding informed the writer that his successor would be Rev. John Schramm of Keyesville, Wis., but that there would be no services at St. Mary’s church next Sunday.
