Juntunen, Amanda (26 OCT 1871 - 09 JAN 1942)
Relief from a lingering illness of the past 12 years, the last year and a half of which was spent in bed, came to Mrs. Amanda Juntunen, at her farm home at Curtiss, Friday, Jan. 9, when she quietly passed away. She was 70 years, two months and 13 days old.
Mrs. Amanda Juntunen, nee Seppanen, a faithful member of the Finnish Lutheran congregation, and a wonderful mother to her family, came to this country from Finland where she was born at Suomussallmi, on October 26, 1871. She and her husband, Kalle Juntunen, lived for 14 years in Sparta, Minn., after which they moved to this community where she spent the remainder of her life.
She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Elsa Hilda Hanson; three sons, John Jalmar, Frans Peter, and Jacob Everett; five brothers, one here and four in Finland; and six sisters living in Finland.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday from the Finnish Lutheran church with the Rev. George Autio reading the service. Interment was made in the Riverside cemetery. Pallbearers were Oscar Makkonen, Jalmar Heikkinen, John Rauha, Henry Puro, Nestor Maki and Matt Maki.
