Ahlers, Daniel Lee (31 MAR 1988 -
4 MAR 2013)
Daniel Lee Ahlers, age 24, formerly of Jump River, was the
victim of an accidental drowning on Monday, March 4, 2013, while jet-skiing on
the ocean waters of Depoe Bay, off the coast of Lincoln City, Ore., where he had
resided the past six years.
Daniel was born on March 31, 1988 in
Ladysmith to Monte and Kathy (Kavanagh) Ahlers. In the fall of 2006, Danny made
his way westward across Canada, finally making a home along the Oregon coast.
He did general remodeling and owned his own landscape and lawn care
business, Green Toad Shoes. He enjoyed playing guitar, songwriting and ballroom
dancing with his fiancée, Lillian Geurrera, also of Lincoln City.
Dan is
survived by his parents; his fiancée, Lilli; and siblings, Bobby (Justine)
Ahlers of Eau Claire, Cassie (Miguel) Munoz of California and Ethan Ahlers of
Chippewa Falls. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Giles and
Florence Kavanagh, and paternal grandparents, Jack and Lenora Ahlers.
Services were held at the Church of Christ in Sheldon, with Pastor Jeremy Allard
officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Mount Nebo
Cemetery in Jump River.
Gilman Funeral Home assisted the family with
arrangements.
