John Joseph Walsdorf, 77, Stanley, died
on Thursday, March 7 at Gilman Care Center. Funeral services will be held on
Monday, March 18 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, with Father
Edward Shuttleworth officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 17 at Plombon Funeral Home from 3 to 7
p.m., with a parish rosary at 6:30 p.m.

John Joseph
Walsdorf, 77, life long resident of Stanley, passed away on Thursday, March 7,
2013 at the Gilman Care Center. John was born Sept. 9, 1935 in Stanley, the son
of the late Arnold & Irene (Yeager) Walsdorf.
He grew up in Stanley,
attended St. Ann’s Parochial School and Stanley-Boyd High School, graduating in
1953.
John then entered the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country for
two years. After his discharge, he attended and graduated from the University of
Wisconsin-Eau Claire, with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in mathematics.
John began his career in the field of banking, attending and completing
three years of American School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
and was employed at the F&M Bank of Stanley where he held the positions of
cashier and Vice President for 35 years until his retirement in 1995.
On
February 8, 1964, John married Marian Voytovich at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in
Stanley. The couple resided in Stanley their entire life, enjoying summer
weekends at Lake of the Pines, Winter, Wis., and their winters in Port
Charlotte, Fla. since 1999.
Throughout his life, John enjoyed bowling,
playing cards, golfing, his fishing and hunting trips with his buddies as well
as the years of travel to the Caribbean, Europe, and other destinations with
friends and family. Treasured most were the family trips taken in the last ten
to twelve years.
John was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and
served on the Board of Directors of F&M Bank and as President while on the Board
of Directors of Victory Memorial Hospital for nine years. He was an active past
member of various local organizations of which include the Knights of Columbus,
Stanley Area Historical Society, Stanley Commercial Club and the Community
Chest.
Survivors include: his wife Marian of Stanley; two daughters,
Diane (Seth) Montgomery of Woodbury, MN, and Jill (Chris) Jarvis of Naples, FL;
and four grandchildren, Jacob, Michael and Mckayla Montgomery of Woodbury, MN
and Samantha Jarvis of Naples, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 18, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy
Family Catholic Church, Stanley. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends and family may call from 3-7 p.m. Sunday evening at the Plombon Funeral
Home with a parish rosary being held at 6:30 p.m.
