Leona M. (20 DEC 1915 - 22 MAR 2013)
Leona M. Kuegler, 97, of Dorchester,
passed away Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Clark County Health Care Center, Owen.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at St.
Peter Lutheran Church in Dorchester. Rev. Jerome Freimuth will officiate. A
visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the church
in Dorchester. Burial will follow the service at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.
Leona Schultz was born December 20, 1915 to Paul and Erna (Wilke)
Schultz in the town of Mayville, Clark County. She attended Brady Grade School,
Curtiss High School for two years, and then Abbotsford High School for two
years. She was a 1934 graduate of Abbotsford High School. Leona and Herbert
Kuegler were united in marriage on August 27, 1941 at Saint Peter Lutheran
Parsonage, Dorchester. Marriage ceremony was performed by the Reverend John
Brandt. Leona with her husband, Herbert, farmed in the town of Little Black,
Taylor County for 38 years, from 1941 to 1979.
After Herbert's passing
in May of 1985, Leona moved to Dorchester. She moved into Colby Retirement
Community seven years ago and later resided in the Clark County Health Care
Center. Leona enjoyed crocheting, playing piano, and jigsaw puzzles.
She
was a lifetime member of Saint Peter Lutheran Church in Dorchester and was a
member of Ladies Aid and LWML Societies.
Leona is survived by her
daughters: Sharon (Frank) Adler and Carmen (David) Housel; her grandchildren:
Laura (Donald) Breslin, Rachelle (Peter) Benson, and Ronson (Kerri) Mahla; her
great grandchildren: David Benson, Aaron Benson, Luke Benson, Paul Benson, Riley
Breslin, Megan Breslin, Allison Breslin, Kesech Mahla; and many nieces and
nephews.
Leona is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, her
grandson: Charles Pierce; and her siblings: Clarence Schultz, Albert Schultz,
and Verna Rosenquist.
