The
Thorp Courier completed the eighty-first years of its existence without a miss.
The first issue of the paper was published on Nov. 23, 1883 by the late Wm.
Wagner, Sr., who served as owner, publisher and editor until his death in 1943.
The publication was continued by his son, Wm. S. Wagner, and now the owners and
publishers include foreman of the mechanics and composing, John J. LaGasse and
editor Robert E. Elkins.
The contribution of news by the large number of
rural correspondents add very much to the interest and success of this newspaper
and it is hoped the citizens of this community will continue to enjoy it for
many years to come.
