Rev. Heibl marks 50 years in priesthood

The 50th jubilee celebration of the ordination into the priesthood for Rev. Charles J. Heibl was held Sunday, May 20, at St. Anthony’s Catholic School hall in Athens.

A display of photos, newspaper articles, mementos and scrap-book compiled by the students and staff of St. Anthony’s school were available for viewing.

George Dums, “Mr. Concertina,” provided music for the occasion.

The open house and luncheon were sponsored by the three parishes Rev. Heibl serves; St. Anthony’s, Athens; St. Thomas, Milan and until recently, Holy Family, Poniatowski.

Approximately 300 people attended throughout the afternoon including Heibl’s siblings, relatives and friends, along with many local priests and ministers.

Rev. Heibl is a native of Milan and has been pastor in the area for 12 years.
