Dassow, Phyllis Mary (Heier) Westrich (12 APR 1937 - 13 JUN 2012)

Phyllis Mary Westrich (Dassow), 75, LaPorte, Ind., died on Wednesday, June 13 at South Bend Memorial Hospital. Memorial graveside services will be held on Friday, July 20 at 12 p.m. at Medford Evergreen Cemetery, with Steven Witt, her son-in-law, officiating.

Visitation will be held at the Fireplace Lounge at Holy Rosary Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until noon.

The former Phyllis Heier was born on April 12, 1937 to the late Anton and Theresa Heier.

On August 20, 1955 in Medford, she married Lowell Westrich, who preceded her in death on March 1, 1967. She was married to Clarence Dassow from 1970 to 1971. She worked at Memorial Hospital in Medford for over 20 years before moving to Indiana where she worked at Walmart.

She enjoyed crafting, reading and good conversation.

Survivors include six children, Terri (Steven) Witt of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kelley of Rolling Prairie, Ind., Rona of New Carlisle, Ind., Sandra of Oshkosh, Amy (Steven) Los of Elkhorn and Tony (Jessica) Dassow of Wasilla, Alaska; two brothers, Fred (Pat) and Marty (Diane); four sisters, Joanne (Rick) Schneveis, Karen (Dave) Heier, Charlene (Dave) Zenner and Dorothy (Marvin) Frey; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lowell, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Westrich, on May 17, 1978; two brothers, Thomas and Robert; and three sisters, Jane Maynard, Audrey Jentzsch and Sherry Ross.
