Nicks, Roger "Rog" E. (23 FEB 1960 - 9 JUL
2012)
Roger "Rog" E. Nicks, age 66, of Withee, Town of Hammel, Medford
area resident, passed away on Monday, July 9 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where
he had been a patient the past three weeks, surrounded by his loving family. He
passed away after a five year long, very courageous battle with cancer.
Roger was born on February 23, 1946 on the family farm in Clark County, to the
late Walter E. Sr. and Elenora L. (Burtard) Nicks. He graduated from
Dorchester-Abbotsford High School and eventually took over the family farm in
Dorchester. He married his high school sweetheart, Donna M. Krause, on June 27,
1964, and they have three sons, Brian, Terry and Michael.
Roger drove
truck for Farmers Union Co-op Transport in Stetsonville for a number of years,
and then managed the company until purchasing his business, Nicks' Truck Repair
and Sales in 1985. Roger had many interests and passions, none more than his
family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, antique tractors,
auctions, breakfast social group at The Diner, and is remembered for his
storytelling and making people smile.
Survivors include his wife, Donna,
of Withee; three sons, Brian (Steph) of Withee, Terry (Bonnie) of Fall Creek and
Mike (Susie) of Medford; nine grandchildren, Megan, Jessica, Kyle, Kasee, Brady,
Cassandra, Alex, Riley and Tori Nicks; a brother, Walter (Lois) Nicks Jr. of
Spring Valley, AZ; and mother-in-law, Marjorie (Ramminger) Krause of Dorchester.
He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and
friends.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters-in-law,
Mildred Ann Nicks and Norma Jean Krause.
There will be a Celebration of
Roger's Life at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 14 at Our Saviours Lutheran Church,
W7809 Apple Ave., in Medford. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time
of services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 14 at the church.
In lieu of
flowers, memorials can be made to Rog's family to be designated at a later date.
