Hake, Augusta (7
January 1889 - 7 November 1968)
Funeral services were held Saturday
afternoon from St. Ann’s Chapel in Stoughton for Mrs. Augusta Hake, 79, who died
in a nursing home in Stoughton last Thursday evening following a long illness.
Burial was made in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery, Ft. Atkinson.
The former Augusta Martens was born in Chicago, Ill., January 7, 1889, and came
to Clark County with her parents in 1896. The family located on a farm in the
Town of Pine Valley. She attended local schools and was a graduate of
Neillsville High School.
She was married on May 28, 1918, to Rush S.
Hake, who preceded her in death in 1942. The Hake family operated a farm in the
Town of Grant for any years. In 1957, Mrs. Hake moved to Stoughton, where she
had since resided. She was a member of St. Ann’s church and the Altar Society.
Mrs. Hake is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Gus (Janet) Rosenbaum of
Stoughton; a sister, Mrs. Louise Stelloh of Milwaukee; a brother, John Martens
of Humbird, a half-sister, Miss Helanda Martens and a half-brother, Julius
Martens, both of Neillsville; and by six grandchildren.
Those from the
Neillsville area attending the service were: Clara Henchen, Helanda Martens, Mr.
and Mrs. Donald Gress, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Hake and Mrs. Al Mashin; Mr. and Mrs.
John Martens of Humbird; and Mrs. John McWilliams of Colorado Springs, Colo.
