Walter August Jensen (28 Aug 1878 - 10 Jul 1960)
Funeral
services for Walter Jensen, 81, were held today, from Salem Evangelical United
Brethren church here. The Rev. Harold Welch, pastor, officiated at the rites
at 2 p. m.
Mrs. L. D. Sorenson, organist for the rites, sang "The Old Rugged
Cross" and
"In the Garden."
Burial was in Dorchester Memorial
Cemetery under direction of the Fuchsgruber Funeral
Service which had charge
of arrangements. Pallbearers were Robert Jensen, Raymond Jensen,
Arthur
Jensen, Lee Jensen, Lawrence Jensen, and Melvin Gauerke.
Mr. Jensen died
in St. Joseph's hospital, Marshfield, Sunday evening, July 10. He had
been
in ill health for some time, and entered the hospital only a short time before.
Walter Jensen was born here Aug 28, 1878, and was reared here. He moved,
with his family
to Reedsburg in 1906, and there worked in a brickyard and
condensery. He later was
employed by a lumber company at Phillips, and on
road construction work.
He and Martha Sabin were married in Reedsburg
Nov. 16, 1917. In 1936 they moved to a farm
in the town of Mayville. He
operated it until he lost his right leg in a farm accident in
1943. They
continued residence on the place, although the loss caused him to give up
active farming.
Surviving are his widow; two sons, Raymond of Janesville,
and Robert of Baraboo; four
grandchildren; two brothers, Fred and Andrew of
Janesvi1le, and a sister, Mrs. Charles
(Hattie Jensen) Weston of Reedsburg.
Eleven brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
