Bridgman, Walter H. #2 (1867? - 21 OCT 1943)
W.H. Bridgman, 76, veteran publisher of the Stanley Republican, died Thursday morning, Oct. 21, 1943 at the Luther Hospital, Eau Claire, where he had been a patient for the past three weeks. He had been editor of the Stanley Republican for fifty years.
He came to Stanley when it was a village of 300 population, from Hurley, Wis., where he had established the Iron County Republican in 1893.
He was married to Carolyn Fawcett, of Minneapolis, on Feb. 1, 1899. He is survived by his wife and three children, Mary (Mrs. James Irwin) of St. Louis, Mo., John, a captain in the U.S. Army at Fort Benning, Ga., and Richard of New York City.
Funeral services were conducted by the Stanley Masonic Lodge at 2:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon and interment took place in the Stanley Cemetery.
