Skwierczynski, Antoinette "Blondie" Josephine (16 July 1922 - 8 March 2008)
Antoinette "Blondie" J. Skwierczynski, age 85, of Thorp, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at Oakbrook Health & Rehab, in Thorp.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2008, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Fr. Keith Apfelbeck will officiate and burial will take place in New St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of service, with a rosary service at 9 a.m.
Antoinette Josephine Lewan was born on July 16, 1922 in Lublin, WI to Frank and Josephine (Borowick) Lewan. She was raised on a farm, near Gilman, and received her education in the Gilman area. Antoinette was united in marriage to Frank T. Skwierczynski in March of 1941. They farmed north of Thorp for a few years and then moved to Chicago, where she was a homemaker. After retirement, they moved to Holcombe, WI and lived there until her husband’s death on August 26, 1986. Blondie moved to Thorp in 1987 and cooked at the Thorp Senior Center for many years. She resided in Thorp until her death.
She was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church and enjoyed cooking, flowers, playing cards, bingo and casinos.
She is survived by four children: Robert (Debbie) Skwierczynski of Palatine, IL; Betty (Ted) Wesolowski of Mt. Prospect, IL; Ronald Skwierczynski of Thorp; and Raymond (Tammy) Skwierczynski of Andover, MA; seven grand-children; three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; seven brothers: Tony, Garfield, Frank, Louie, Casey, Bill, Pete and Joe Lewan; and two sisters: Marge Glidden and Tillie Kollack.
Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
