Svejda, Emil (5 DEC 1922 - 16 JUN 2004)

Abbotsford, Wis. - Emil Svejda, 81, of Abbotsford, Wisconsin died June 16, 2004, at Colonial Center in Colby, Wis.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Colby, Wis. Burial will be in the Abbotsford Public Cemetery.

Friends may call at Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday and again on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.

He was born Dec. 5, 1922, in East St. Louis, Ill., to John and Elizabeth (Draper) Svejda. Emil and Winifred Hickner were united in marriage Nov. 22, 1945. He farmed and logged in the Phillips area. He worked for Peterson Construction of Medford from 1962 to 1983, and then at the Abbotsford landfill for 22 years.

He is survived by his wife, Winifred, of Abbotsford; seven children, Bill (Jan) Svejda of Minneapolis, Joyce (Tom) Lewinski of Marshfield, Sue (Ron) Vollmar of Wausau, Lois (Bob) Greene of Milwaukee, John Svejda of Colby, David Svejda of Abbotsford and Jim Svejda of Medford; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
