Oestreich, Carol E. #2 (24 DEC 1921 - 11 MAR 2008)

Carol E. Oestreich, 86, Loyal, died on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at the Clark County Health Care Center, Owen. A private graveside service will be held at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield.

Carol Emma Smith was born on Dec. 24, 1921, in Marshfield, to Leonard and Emma (nee Cundy) Smith. She was raised and educated in Marshfield, graduating from Marshfield High School in 1940. She was united in marriage to Arnold M. Oestreich on May 1, 1943, at the First Methodist Church, Marshfield. They lived and farmed in the Loyal-Spencer area and raised four children. In addition to farming, she also managed the Loyal Café through the 60’s. After their retirement, they lived in Marshfield until Arnold’s death in 1998.

She had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family, camping, knitting and cooking. She brightened the lives of all those who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her children, Ted Oestreich, Auburndale; Arnold (Mary) Oestreich, Mariposa, Calif.; Donna (Ray) Morrison, Loyal; Jack (Ellen) Oestreich, Spencer; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Morris and Alfred Smith; and two sisters, Elma Gallitin and Ellen Scheel.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, is assisting the family with arrangements.
