Demuth, Ada V. (13 MAR 1917 - 16 MAR 2008)

Ada V. Demuth, 91, Beloit, formerly of Loyal, passed away at the home of her daughter, Cape Coral, Fla., on March 16, 2008. Funeral services will be held ay noon on Saturday, March 29, 2008, at the Loyal Methodist Church. Rev. Wendell Williams will officiate and burial will follow in the Loyal Cemetery.

Ada V. Rous was born on March 13, 1917, in Oconomowoc, to Clement and Viola (nee Robinson) Rous. She was raised and received her education in Loyal, graduating from Loyal High School in 1934. After completing her education, Ada moved to Chicago and worked. She was united in marriage to William Demuth on Aug. 31, 1937, in Waukon, Iowa. They lived on a farm near Loyal, where she was a homemaker and raised six children. After her husband’s death on Oct. 25, 1958, she continued to live in Loyal. She worked for the Loyal School District, as a cook from 1961 until retiring in 1976. Ada lived in Loyal until moving to Beloit in 1997, to be near family. She was a member of the Loyal United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Clark County Homemakers. She had many interests, but especially enjoyed a good game of cards, working on crafts for family and friends, watching the Packers, and making her famous cinnamon rolls for her family when they visited.

She is survived by five children: Sue (Don) Piirainen, Cape Coral, Fla.; Wayne (Connie) Demuth, Freeport, Ill.; Connie (Dick) Hansen, Roscoe, Ill.; Michael (Karen) Demuth, Dayton, Ohio; Corrine (Tim) Skalitzky, New Ulm, Minn.; one son-in-law: Frank Catlin, Maryville, Mich.; one sister: Frances Seefeldt, Spencer; 17 grandchildren: Lynn McEwen, North Fort, Myers, Fla.; Karen (Brian) Hartlieb, North Fort Myers, Fla.; Cindy (Larry) Quintanilla, Roscoe, Ill.; Sharon (Mike) Meves, Placentina, Calif.; Denise (Brian) Hutter, Aurora, Colo.; Kathy Black, Cape Coral, Fla.; Cebra (Ken) Shanks, Grand Rapids, Mich.; Sarah (Erick) Poffenberger, Forreston, Ill.; Brian (Amy) Catlin, Royal Oaks, Mich.; Martha (Shawn) Miller of Winnebago, Ill., Tammi Skalitzky, Washington, D.C.; Julie Skalitzky, Crawfordsville, Ind.; Christina, Carolyn, and David Demuth, Dayton, Ohio, and 19 great-grandchildren: Amanda, Kayla, Lauren, Brittany, Jennifer, Gabrielle, Quinn, Danielle, Connor, Jacob, Benjamin, Harrison, Adam, Caleb, Evan Kelsey, Amia, Ainsley and Emily.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; one daughter, Kay Catlin; two great-grandchildren; Taylor Anne Poffenberger and Aiden Michael Demuth; and one brother, Robert Rous.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, is assisting the family with arrangements.
